“Wash. U.’s Taste of the Lou’”!

Off Campus Media and the Congress of the South 40 (CS40) hosted their inaugural “Wash. U.’s Taste of the Lou’” event at Washington University in St. Louis’ South 40 campus on September 25, 2009.

More than 600 students sampled food from 14 restaurants, and enjoyed performances by Washington University in St. Louis student groups and bands all while raising money for a charitable cause.

Off Campus Media distributed free gift bags with coupons and special offers from participating restaurants and other companies.

Students purchased $1 meal tickets with cash or their campus card. Restaurants served menu items from 1-3 tickets, making it easy and affordable for students to experiment.

“We had the opportunity to educate the community on Habitat for Humanity while at the same enjoying great food outdoors on a beautiful day. Everyone that I know had a good time and found some new places to eat.” said Andrew Warshauer, a Washington University in St. Louis undergraduate and member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. “I’m already excited for the event next year,”

The event raised nearly $500 for three charities. Washington University in St. Louis selected the KIPP Inspire Academy and students voted for Make a Wish Foundation and Habitat for Humanity at the event.
